MedUnited Hospitals in Collaboration with KIMS Konaseema
Evidence-Based Cancer Control and Research Engagement
MedUnited Hospitals, in partnership with Konaseema Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), is advancing a model of evidence-based and technology-enabled cancer care designed for rural and resource-limited settings. Together, they serve the geographically unique Konaseema region a coastal delta in Andhra Pradesh — characterized by occupational exposures (coconut pith inhalation), high salt intake, and elevated rates of biliary and oral cancers. This collaboration focuses on integrating frugal innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), and community-based delivery models to ensure equitable access to prevention, early detection, treatment, and palliative care.
AI-Driven Cancer Screening and Command Center Integration
Through KIMS’s Medhankua Innovation Wing, MedUnited Hospitals has deployed AI-powered devices and digital platforms that extend cancer screening and care coordination across its network of hospitals and outreach camps. The Ayuvu Command Center serves as the hub for cancer emergency management, patient navigation, and data-driven coordination.
Gyne Eye
Portable and affordable colposcopy system with AI image analysis. Detects cervical lesions (VIA/VILI) and classifies results as normal, CIN, or suspicious for cancer. Used by ASHA and nursing teams in remote villages with real-time specialist teleconsultation.
Oral Cancer
Smartphone-based imaging tool optimized for detecting betel-quid-related oral lesions. Identifies pre-malignant and malignant conditions like leukoplakia and oral submucous fibrosis. Integrated into MedUnited’s Mega Cancer & Medical Camp initiatives for early detection.
Breast Light
Non-invasive, optical transillumination device enhanced by AI. Effective in younger women with dense breast tissue. Used in MedUnited’s mass screening programs, enabling quick triage and reducing dependence on mammography.
Ayuvu Command Center and Integrated Cancer Care
The **Ayuvu Command Center**, jointly operated through KIMS and MedUnited Hospitals, acts as a digital nerve center linking villages, primary centers, and tertiary oncology units.
Functions include:
– 24×7 cancer emergency hotline and ambulance coordination.
– AI-powered dashboards for tracking screened patients and treatment adherence.
– Integration with Ayushman Bharat, NHM, and Aarogyasree for cashless treatment.
– Tele-oncology and real-time multidisciplinary consultations.
This system decentralizes specialist expertise while ensuring rapid response to cancer-related emergencies.
