Our Emergency Hospital provides responsive care to resuscitate critically ill patients. To ensure this a separate resuscitation unit is available. We follow an international triage system in providing emergency care to patients.
The Department of Emergency Medicine at MedUnited Hospital has a dynamic team of qualified and trained emergency physicians, well-organised emergency care staff, and separate trauma teams, ACLS-trained nurses, trauma technicians and emergency medical personnel take care of patients. The Malikipuram Hospital has a dedicated operating procedure which helps to diligently follow protocols pertaining to managing mass casualty incidences & disasters and conducting mass educational programs for the public.
Emergency services:
- Triage: Prioritizing patients based on the severity of their condition.
- Trauma Care: Providing care for critically ill patients, including those in shock or experiencing multi-organ failure.
- Initial Assessment: Rapid evaluation of patients to identify life-threatening issues.
- Intravenous (IV) Access: Placing IV lines for administering fluids, medications, and blood products.
- Cardiac Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of patientsâ heart rhythms and ECG interpretation.
- Wound Care: Cleaning, suturing, or stapling lacerations and managing other traumatic injuries.
- Pain Management: Administering analgesics and managing pain for various conditions.
Diagnostics:
- Imaging: Ordering and interpreting X-rays and ultrasounds.
- Laboratory Tests: Ordering and interpreting blood tests, urine tests, and other diagnostic tests.
- Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG): Performing and interpreting ECGs to diagnose heart conditions.
Procedures:
- Resuscitation: Managing cardiac arrest, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and administering defibrillation or advanced life support measures.
- Airway Management: Intubation, bag-valve-mask ventilation, and other techniques to secure and maintain a patientâs airway.
- Fracture and Dislocation Management: Reducing and immobilizing fractures and dislocated joint
- Central Line Placement: Inserting central venous catheters for monitoring and administering certain medications.
- Lumbar Puncture: Performing spinal taps to diagnose conditions.
- Thoracentesis and Paracentesis: Draining fluid from the pleural or peritoneal cavity, respectively.
- Joint Aspiration: Removing fluid from swollen joints for analysis and relief.
- Infection Control: Managing infectious disease cases and implementing isolation precautions when necessary.
